It definitely works at knocking down noticeable odor after exhaling, so well that it seems that eliminate all odor blown thru it. The unfortunate thing is that it the filter is not recyclable or replaceable and there are other brands that do have replacement filters. The information above about washing this out to extend it's life is not replicated on the product's site, but maybe they know and just don't promote it because of sales.
